If any of the above cases happen to you, consider the following tips: Before attaching to the car, you need to twist the straps. I recommend rotating 5-6 times. Once I did that, there was no more noise. - Make sure you insert the rope correctly into the clamps. I also tie a knot on the hanging rope inside to make sure it's secure. These two adjustments played a crucial role. Now my shelf works great and holds boards all the time. I can drive 60-65 km/h for an hour without any problems. Old Review: Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I watch video after video and keep re-reading the instructions. When we bought it we were so excited to be able to bring my daughter an 8ft softboard to the beach to surf. We rode about 90 miles and a typical hour and 20 minute ride at 65 mph took over two hours because I kept having to stop and ride at 50 mph or less because the board, although it started out too tight, loosened up and started to hop. and flop.
