Review on Ultra Bright CREE LED Headlamp by Walter Day

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Disgusting product, tested in campaigns!

I took this tricky little flashlight on a trail in the Adirondacks with a group of experienced hikers who had much more expensive headlamps. We descended from Algonquin Peak in the late afternoon (not my fault, by the way!) in pouring rain and pitch blackness, slipping and sliding over the muddy rocks of a creek masquerading as a trail. The conditions were COLD, HUMID and HORRIBLE but I have to tell you this light did the job! It was MUCH brighter than other headlamps, very comfortable to wear and lasted for hours at the end of a 3 day hike with even better battery life. I liked that it leaned against my feet (and stayed in place!) so I didn't slide to my death on the rocks (and that's not a huge exaggeration). The main light has three settings: (super) bright, dimmed (darker but still bright!) and blinking (which I wanted to use so someone would come and save me from my misery!). The red light is also very bright and can be set to stay on or flash. It was perfect for waking up in the middle of the night at camp. The body is made of hard plastic and has withstood the rain very well. The elastic is very durable, the buttons work without any problems. I was VERY happy with this product. My hiking brothers were so proud of their super-expensive, premium gear, but I was even more proud of this inexpensive yet incredibly durable and super-functional product. I would not only recommend it to budget conscious weekend travelers like me, but to anyone who wants a great headlamp!
