My truck has a V8 engine, headers and a full 2.5" muffler and dual 2.5" exhausts coming straight from the rear. This muffler replaced my previous one (can't remember the brand) when it got rusty. I drove without a muffler for about 2 weeks before the screams from the exhaust became annoying. That being said I bought it hoping it would quiet my system at cruising speed and it worked compared to not having a silencer. There's a slight hum around 1800-2100 rpm, it's just a reminder that it's on the line (radio or windows down can easily tune it out). The muffler sounds great under hard acceleration and at idle, but it's not perfect. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's a bit bigger. Don't get me wrong, it sounds deep, angry and raw, but not as deep as I expected. The build quality seems pretty good, and it has a protective coating that I hope will hold up through winter on the salty New York streets. I inserted the 2.5" pipes into the muffler inlet and outlet like a glove, hence an A+ for easy installation. For the price you can't go wrong. It sounds harsh when you want it, it's pretty quiet to drive and most importantly I didn't feel like I'd lost any performance compared to the straight tubes.
