Review on πŸ”ͺ Laiwei 155mm Bimetal Heavy Cutter: Precision Cutting Tool for Tough Materials by Jessie Drury

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not the best choice for recessed lights.

I knew I would probably ruin the blade but thought it would hold a few holes in degreased drywall for some built in lights. I was able to get him to cut 2 holes before the teeth were completely gone! It might have been better if it just cut drywall, but with a layer of plaster the blade didn't stand a chance! Just a few things to keep in mind if you are considering buying this saw for installing recessed lights. Do yourself a favor and buy the right tool for the job, a MAGBIT carbide tool. It'll cost you about three times the price of this blade, but it'll cut through butter like a hot knife! Having used it for its intended purpose, I'm sure this blade will suffice. However, if you're like me and want to try it on something it wasn't designed for, don't waste your money!

Pros
  • Hole Saws and Accessories
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
