Review on 🐹 Enhance Your Pet's Habitat with Kaytee CritterTrail Fun-nels Value Pack #4 by Sri Mims

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great for dwarf hamsters (and I hope they have strong claws)

Go to the 2nd paragraph of the review. The photo I've attached to my review shows, top to bottom: Habitrail OVO Pipe, 10" Straight Crittertrail Pipe, Two Habitrail OVO Arches Connected, Two Crittertrail Arches Connected. You can really see how much smaller these crittertrail tubes are in diameter - I recommend them for mice and dwarf hamsters For Syrian hamsters (plush hamsters) I don't recommend the Crittertrail, the tubes are certainly too small and I would recommend the Habitrail OVO I'm disappointed instead, that Kaytee sells these tubes for Syrian hamsters because I think they stand a good chance of getting stuck (even if it's a "small" Syrian if they stuff their cheek pouches full and then try to get through the crittertrail) . elbow pipe, I'm afraid it won't go well). Moving on to my review of these crittertrail tubes I have 4 of these for my 2 robo dwarf hamsters. I use them as fun little tunnel bridges between platforms in her trash can. Cages as well as a way to climb these platforms. I use cable ties to secure them in place. My hamster robots love them, they have enough room to turn around in the tube - remember robots are the smallest dwarf hamsters, only 2 inches long. the Habitrail OVO tubes are for them but they only have a few tiny ridges inside - my hamsters slid and slid and struggled to get up at a 45 degree angle in the Habitrail OVO tubes. The grip is good so the thick lugs on these crittertrail tubes are great in that regard. The big gripe with these tubes is the connector rings, they are not easy to remove at all. I broke two nails trying to fix the pull out the tubes. That being said, I remembered having a retainer remover when I took my braces off (I had Essix retainers which are a bit like Invisilig aligners and they were so tight on my teeth that I needed this tool, to remove them). is a plastic tool. with a little hook on the end, like a hook that is SO helpful when taking those crittertrail tubes apart. If I didn't have this instrument I would probably hate these pipes. So I put a star on the link rings, I want them to be more like the pan and lock rings that Habitrail tubes have. And what works even better is soaking the hoses in hot water (not boiling water - the water I used was hot but still hand-friendly) - the heat temporarily softens the connector rings a bit, making them much easier to put on are . separately.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
