Worked great for me cutting through a layer of brick to vent the dryer. A few things to keep in mind. Have someone use a spray bottle and continuously spray water on the bit while drilling to cool and lubricate it. Since the cutter is only about 2 inches long, you'll need to chip off part of the core with a cold chisel as you work. Most bricks are thicker than this and I had to knock out some of them to continue working through the wall. If you don't, the tailor will sink to the bottom and you'll never quite get through. As mentioned, the center drill will come loose, but if you drill a pilot hole first, the center drill won't do much once the core drill starts to work. It's fairly centered at this point. For the price it did a great job making a nice round hole for venting.
