These jacks are easy to install, inexpensive and work very well on my 2003 Chevy Tahoe. The first task is to remove the old ones. There is a small metal clip at each end of the lifter. Using a small screwdriver, pry this clip up and loosen it from the ball head. Then make sure the tailgate is fully open (ask a friend to hold it so you have both hands free to move the lift). When the tailgate is fully open you can easily remove the old jacks. Then, in reverse motion, slightly lift the latches and attach at one end. I started with the top part as it has more restricted access and then finished cutting off the bottom end. The whole process of uninstalling the old one and installing the new one took just a few minutes for me. Instead of propping the tailgate with a stick and risking the stick being knocked over and hitting his head on the door, he's now not sleeping like he should. I was reluctant to buy a new set of lifters knowing they were quite expensive locally. I was also concerned about how difficult they might be to install. In both cases, these elevators solved the problems. 5 stars, these lift mounts work great, easy to install and solved my problems.
