So these wicks are actually very different than homemade tiki torches. I made four torches out of several empty vodka bottles, and the first bundle of fiberglass wicks I used only maintained a good flame when the bottles were almost full of fuel. Once the fuel level dropped about an inch below the rim of the bottle, the soak began to falter and the flame died out. I replaced them all with these Firefly wicks after reading some reviews and I'm happy to report that they make a significant difference. I don't know if it's because the wicks are longer or their manufacture allows for better capillary action, but either way these wicks hold a much nicer flame than "regular" 12 inch wicks. I sit on the pool deck and watch as my half-depleted tiki torches continue to burn brightly. Due to the quality of these wicks I will be trying other Firefly products as well.
