I had to trim 1/4" of the long edge of each plastic insert but was fine after that. Heavier top and side storage, an aluminum carrier with side rails perfect for adding panniers. Then I added my $9 Geartronic Cycling Bike trunk bag above and you're done (the Geartronic trunk bag comes with small panniers that slide out of the side pockets, but I cut them out because they aren't sewn securely and that space is more valuable to me than empty zipped pockets.) I can quickly remove the saddlebags and just reattach the trunk if needed, all with straps to match my seat and counters.
