The goods are normal, money is not wasted!

Check for focus accuracy in the store! Different carcasses can have different results! My copy on the D60 was focused quite accurately in the head and waist portraits, and there was always front focus on full-length portraits. On the D7000, the same lens in the head and waist portraits produced back focus, and in the full-length portraits it โ€œflyedโ€ even further back, behind the subject. Cured on the D7000 by setting the focus correction to -20 (limit value). In general, if your hands grow properly and you can get around the imperfections, you can get very beautiful portraits, and landscapes at f / 8. This was my second lens after the whale. In terms of artistic possibilities, it is very wide. When "zooming" with your feet, the composition of the frame involuntarily improves, since you have to choose the best angle, and not shoot from the point where you saw something interesting) I tried to shoot a video with it - it turns out a movie, very beautifully separates the object from the environment) PS: I have no experience with "screwdriver" fifty dollars.

Pros
  • I shot them only on cropped carcasses D60 and D7000. 1. Sharp even at f/1.4. If yours is not sharp, see where it is focused. The field of sharpness on an open hole is very narrow. 2. Good design: iron mount, there is a rubber edging between the lens and the camera body to protect it from dust and moisture, the body does not creak. 3. Possibility of focusing in manual and semi-automatic modes, i. E. after focusing autofocus, you can manually tweak the focus yourself. 4. Comes with a hood and a soft case. 5. The front frame of the lens does not rotate, it is convenient when using a polarizer. The only bad thing is that the lens block that provides focusing is not protected by anything: it can suck dust. Although I have a normal flight after 2 years of use. 6. Focusing is quiet. 7. Full frame, suitable for full frame cameras. 8. Can be used on smaller D40 and D60 carcasses where there is no screwdriver. 9. Minimal perspective distortion, no vignetting (on crop, I donโ€™t presume to judge about the full frame). It is convenient to glue panoramas.
Cons
  • 1. Focusing speed. For a portrait, you donโ€™t need to go faster, but he doesnโ€™t have time for the children. While autofocus crawled, missed interesting shots. 2. Shoals with focus (front / back focus). 3. Focusing again: the lens cannot (!) focus on small free-standing objects (for example, a thin twig), especially when they are the same color as the background - a thin stem of a flower on a windowsill against the background of foliage outside the window. The whale lens did not know such problems at all. Therefore, focus on contrasting objects, or with your hands. It is very difficult to get into an open hole with your hands. 4. A little yellow. 5. On the bokeh and along the contour of light objects, it gives out large HA, especially on open holes. If the light is chosen correctly, this effect can be significantly reduced. 6. Drawing (subjectively). It's a matter of taste. In my opinion, the border between the area of โ€‹โ€‹the image that is in focus and the area of โ€‹โ€‹blur in head portraits is too rough. There is no such smooth "flow" as on Soviet lenses (on Tair-11, for example).
