Review on 🎨 Scotchgard Clear Paint Protection Film Roll - 3M - 12" x 96" - Bulk Size by Quinton Wonsley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent product, expert auto application process

This item is great but takes a long time to put on. Getting it right is a skill, if not an art. Also, at only 12 inches wide, it almost guarantees that you will most likely have a seam on the front bumper. For these two reasons I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The hood was light, the door sills and trunk edge were good, the front bumper was annoying and the mirrors sucked. For the 2015 Mazda CX5 it took 2 orders of 12"x96" material to do all of this. I honestly have to redo the mirrors. There are some good videos on YouTube. there, and the Clear Defender website (the Revain retailer I bought from) had some good guides and videos. My personal recommendations: * Take your time, seriously a few hours per surface. * Use a sharp razor, not scissors, to shape your car after applying and fixing. It would almost cost extra money to buy versions of this cutout for my car, but those costs quickly added up. If you have access to a 3D scanner, you may be able to identify a computerized template that you can pre-cut for your machine. one. * Get a thick rubber squeegee (Amazon lists it as commonly bought together, but I found it at an auto parts store) * Don't stretch the material too much, especially on the edges where it will be cut. Stretching can look really bad (see attached photos of mirrors). I've seen a video of a heat gun being used to stretch it before applying it to a car (this video was specifically for vinyl decals, I suspect the results will be similar) but haven't tried this technique . I'll try when I redo the mirrors.* Not only do you need to squeeze out air bubbles, you also need to squeeze out a water solution. Water bubbles are easy to miss, and then you have to remove the adhesive and reapply. Water bubbles are almost as visible as air bubbles. However, the end product is a great way to protect your paintwork on your next trip. I think it's worth it, but prepare to get frustrated while using it. Much luck.
