My daughter bought a raku kiln. We fired it up, checked the temp with an infrared gauge that maxed out at 600F, tore off the top and decided we needed more control. I got a Leaton with a K-sensor to fit the 2300F and we tried again. At first everything went smoothly. We knew best what temperature we were at and were able to fire two good batches of stoneware by cranking the kiln to 1800F. Best of all, we didn't rip the top off. This is the only tool that did what I needed and did it well. So if you're working in high temperatures and need to know how hot it really is, this is something that works and is affordable.
