I was tired of Tetra pumps failing after a month or two of use, but I was nervous that I could only rely on such an underperforming pump to get the job done to do with both the foam filter and air stone in my daughter's 2 gallon tank. I then came up with the idea of connecting two of these pumps to the same valve and adjusting the flow to the air stone to a steady stream of tiny bubbles and venting the rest of the pressure through the filter's venturi. Two months later it's still working great. In a large aquarium I would only use this for a small air stone but 2 of them do a great job in a 2 gallon tank for 3 small tetras that my daughter calls pets. They are very quiet (although they sometimes make the check valves rattle) and the suction cup keeps them on the back of the tank, freeing up the space previously occupied by the Tetra brand pump housings.
