Review on Dynamat 11103 Dynaliner Self Adhesive Deadener by Richard Alemayehu

I was repairing a detachable hard top for a 1984 Mercedes SL and needed foam under the top. You can pick up cheap foam anywhere, but it absorbs water, isn't as good at heat/cold retention, and doesn't have a self-adhesive backing. I've used Dynamat Extreme and Dynaliner on the floorboards and found that heat and noise are greatly reduced, so I decided to do the same on the roof. After sanding and repainting the hardtop, I cleaned the inside top cut and applied Dynamat Extreme with a Dynamat roller, then cut and applied Dynaliner. It really sticks! Then I put on a new headliner and mounted all the trims. Now the hardtop car is as quiet as a sedan. Those old Mercedes's aren't as quiet as the post 1990 models and mine has an aftermarket Ansa exhaust system so it purrs a bit when driving. So I also added some leftover Dynaliner under the back seat and over the wheel wells. Now the car sounds like. Mercedes. Immediately after installing the new Dynaliner, I took a summer trip from SLC to Los Angeles through the Mojave Desert. I kept putting my hand on the headliner and it felt chilly on a 110 degree day. IMPRESSIVE. Even if you think the foam you are about to install will never get wet, use this material. Condensation permeates almost everything, and ordinary porous foam holds that water and starts to smell. This material insulates sound better, insulates much better and does not absorb water.
