Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Hakko FX-901/P Battery-powered Soldering Iron by Dennis Moonin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best I've found for the price but could be better.

This is much better than the cheaper no name cordless irons in China which have either uncoated or poorly coated tips and will not accept solder or otherwise fail after a few uses. Hakko makes professional grade soldering tools that have a decent tip and at least work. But it heats up slowly and doesn't work well with batteries. This is the perfect application for the high discharge lithium ion technology used in power tools, drones, etc. The iron can heat up much faster, be rechargeable, have replaceable batteries, and have more solder joints. This iron (a Weller BL60MP cordless soldering iron with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery) looks better in theory, but it's twice the price and has less than good reviews. It also doesn't have a removable battery, which is hard to justify at this price point. What we really need is something like this, but a soldering iron that comes with 2 batteries like many cordless tools and can be used as a soldering iron or a pen: Hitachi DB3DL2 3.6V Lithium Ion Dual Position Cordless Screwdriver Set (Lifetime Equipment Warranty ) Hakko, do you hear? Or maybe one of the cordless tool manufacturers should be a step ahead of them?
