VEHICLE: 2008 Honda Civic Si Coupe (fg2) PURCHASED: 5/26/16 REMOVAL TIME: 1-1.5 hours INSTALLATION TIME: 25-45 minutes Read many reviews before choosing this SRI. I have limited experience with cars and wasn't sure if I could not only install but also remove the stock airbox and resonance chamber. I did an oil change, I replaced the starter motor, I replaced the CO2 sensors, all from YouTube videos and forums; I'm not bragging, just giving you an idea of how much experience it takes to pull this off on your own. If you've never worked on a car before, this will suck for you, but it's possible. If you give in when necessary, you will most likely succeed. Removing the stock airbox and resonance chamber was 1000% the worst part. Some suggest removing the bumper, others suggest removing the trim under the driver's side wheel arch and under the engine. I went with the last one. It wasn't easy, I can tell you that. Everything is pretty basic except for the resonance box because it's hidden so deep under your battery. For some reason it was difficult for me to find 3 screws but one of them is a rubber bushing. So if you can unscrew two, you can just pull them out from under the engine bay and through the wheel arch. If you REALLY want to keep your stock parts, then I suggest deleting the bumper route. Installation was pretty easy. I watched a few YouTube videos and found one specific to my car that answered most of my questions up front. The only reason I don't give this product 5 stars is that one of the hoses that came with it has an outside diameter that is too large. The inner diameter is fine, which means you can easily attach it to the SRI and engine, but since the outer diameter is too large, you cannot use your car's normal hose clamp for this particular hose. You'll end up reusing all your current hose clamps, but just for this particular one you won't be able to fit a hose clamp, especially the end that attaches to the SRI. Youtube videos suggest using some small zip ties, which I think is fine if you can't get to the store (or Revain) to buy a new hose clamp. They cost up to $4 and are much more secure than some zip ties, which can potentially melt or weather until they break. Now for the good. performance and sound. I see a slight increase. Nothing crazy. Another reviewer stated that it made his car "lighter" and I totally agree with that statement. It's also important to add that the VTEC banging (although it's awesome!) is no longer the push you're used to; The transition flattens out a bit. What I particularly like about the sound is that it is not too loud during normal driving. You will notice a small difference. At full throttle, however, you may be surprised to learn that the sound you hear is coming from your car. It's louder, deeper, a little more guttural and beautiful. Especially when it's hit in VTEC. You can clearly hear air being sucked in. I use the DashCommand app and after driving two tanks of gas I've found it improves fuel economy by 0-1mpg depending on terrain and temperature. In other words, not enough to make it a reason to buy. After all, it's hidden in the back of the engine compartment, and it's very, very hot in there. Unfortunately, I didn't think to check the intake temperature before installing it, but after installing it, it remains within the acceptable range. Also, do not forget to know the radio code in advance. It is usually on a sticker that is applied when the glove box is opened. I've lost enough coolant to justify adding it, but you may want to have some extra coolant on hand in case you lose it. Make sure your vehicle is cool enough before attempting this or you risk being burned by hot, explosive coolant.
