There is a button on the side of the adapter for removing and reinserting the adapter plugs. When first used, the adapter forks could be returned to their original up-pull position when the button was pressed, but the forks were not held in place. I immediately sent it back and bought the "International Power Adapter, Ceptics World Travel USB Type C QC 3.0 18W PD Plug Adapter Kit - 3 USB Wall Charger" instead, which costs a few bucks more, has 3 USB ports instead of 4 , but one of them is a USB port for fast charging. It has the best ratings and hopefully it doesn't break.
