Update: still going strong after a year. Using the correct sublimation transfers solved my problem with wrong transfers. I plan to eventually invest in a printer capable of sublimation ink so I can print my own translations. At the moment I get my transfers from transfers for a rainy day. The biggest problem is getting the tempo right. Mine is set to heat up to 380 before starting a 120 second countdown timer. It's ok, I like that everything is in one slim device, the stitching quality is pretty good. I opened up the electronics and didn't see anything wrong which looks refreshing for a Chinese generic, it even has a chassis ground which is usually neglected with most Chinese brands I own. Operation is very simple. I had an issue where the lock button came loose and I found the lock was loose. I had to partially disassemble the device to secure it with a reliable lock so hopefully this nut will stay in place forever. The red button at the top is the same as the enter button below the display and starts the cycle. The manual says the enter key should be used for more reliability and rightly so the big red button is a little finicky and doesn't always register when pressed and the loop doesn't run. I will replace this button with a better one in the near future. The device is high quality, but not without flaws. I have yet to successfully sublimate the mug, but I'm trying to figure out how to sublimate more than blaming the machine. I know I'm using the wrong paper and I'm pretty sure that's a big part of my problems.
