Review on 🐾 Premium Maxpama Folding Dog Car Ramp: Portable Aluminum Frame for Large Dogs | Nonslip Surface for High Beds, Trucks, Cars, and SUVs | Lightweight Pet Ladder Supports 150-200 Lbs by Erica Williams

Nice design but one flaw

All in all these stairs are great. They are lighter than I expected, the frame is very strong and folds easily into a compact shape. There is one downside that worries me a lot. The surface of the step itself is not a solid piece of plastic, but rather a square of plastic smaller than the step itself, sewn between two layers of fabric. (The fabric itself is great and the rubberized traction strips work great). The problem is that this causes the steps to flex and flex a lot more than if it were one solid piece stretching across the frame itself. I'm afraid they will fail over time as the fabric that supports all the weight wears away. Even if this does not happen, the steps will bend more, making the steps unstable. Convincing an aging dog to trust these steps is difficult enough, and anything that makes them less stable will only increase the dog's anxiety. I really wish they would have designed them differently. For now, however, they are working well and hopefully won't wear out any time soon. My dog eventually learned to trust these steps and they help her get into the car much easier than the stool I used before. I would probably buy them again if they last long enough. (My dog is a 113 pound black Lab aged 12.5 years with muscle wasting and arthritis in the hindquarters and hips. Not sure I would use them on a much heavier dog despite their higher rating is, but they are suitable for him. )

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • Some flaws
