Review on 🍲 9 Quart Lodge Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Wire Bail for Camp Cooking by Paul Stephenson

GOOD PRODUCT! Good company!

The house meets all expectations! I bought this to replace my grandma's brazier (her lid got lost in traffic). This pot was at least 100 years old. It didn't disappoint! Still the same superb production, same attention to detail. I love the self-closing lid. It's really pre-seasoned and made a great pot roast on the first night. It's hard, but not too hard. Nothing was sticking at all, I used a Lodge Roast Rack. Cleaning is a breeze, just hot water and a steel wool. I dry it on the stovetop over low heat (like grandma used to do) and rub LIGHTLY with vegetable oil (or leftover cooking oil). I keep an old nylon scraper as a spacer between the lid and the pot to allow airflow (if the lid is tight this can allow moisture to cause rust). Always remember to use oven mitts! It's a cast iron skillet and it gets HOT! I haven't had any problems with the bail handle as some have said, but I'm used to this type of handle on my brazier. I will still use my grandmother's pot, there is still a lot of life in it. The Lodge is made in the USA and I love that fact. I tried another type (it was a gift) that wasn't lodge and was country made. It was terrible. I pre-seasoned it (it should have been pre-seasoned) and everything was sticking horribly. The quality was poor, very rough surface and I could see where the thickness of the iron varied on the bottom. I'm staying at the lodge!
