It needs space and attention like any great cast iron, but instead

I name my 9 Quart Dutch Oven Berta because it's not Cindy, Diana or Susie. It requires space and attention like any great cast iron, but in return it will help you prepare the crispiest roast chicken, the juiciest beef stew, the spiciest gumbo. Treat 4 like 6 and she will love you forever! I've had Berta for a little over a year and it's one of my favorite cooking purchases along with my Joule sous vide and electric knife sharpener. It won't disappoint, the larger size fits most dinner partiesโ€ฆ

The best chilli pot

Big Berta! megapot! I love this cauldron. When my wife isn't making potions I make chili out of it and it's everything I've ever wanted and more! Of course, the usual care of cast iron is required. Don't be an idiot, put this guy in the dishwasher and don't expect him to rust. I always clean my cast iron well with soap to remove production residue, then season in the oven with oil for a few cycles Chili 7 slices bacon 1.34 lbs ground beef 1 green bell pepper 1/2 red bell pepper 1/2 orange 1โ€ฆ

Great addition to any kitchen

I don't know why I've refused to buy a roaster all these years! I started making homemade bread and several recipes called for DO so I broke down and bought it. Fiction! I use it to bake bread that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like I love bread. I also use it for roast pork and other recipes. It requires me to pick it up with two hands, but I really like it and use it all the time. I also make sure it's seasoned and looking brand new after many uses in a short amount of

Do not buy! suitable for cookware

I bought what I thought was a beautiful pre-treated cast iron pot and lid for my husband's special Father's Day dinner on 16th June 2019. I have my dutch iron ahead of cooking washed as instructed. I cooked dinner in it and then immediately cleaned it. I'm very knowledgeable about cast iron, so I coated it with vegetable oil (also following Lodge's instructions) while it was still warm. I was shocked when the paper towel I used to cover it got rusty. The more I "seasoned" it, the more rustโ€ฆ

GOOD PRODUCT! Good company!

The house meets all expectations! I bought this to replace my grandma's brazier (her lid got lost in traffic). This pot was at least 100 years old. It didn't disappoint! Still the same superb production, same attention to detail. I love the self-closing lid. It's really pre-seasoned and made a great pot roast on the first night. It's hard, but not too hard. Nothing was sticking at all, I used a Lodge Roast Rack. Cleaning is a breeze, just hot water and a steel wool. I dry it on the stovetopโ€ฆ
