I ordered a 4.25 guided drill to install a 4 inch dehumidification vent in my new home. I'm so glad I went with the 4.25" but instead of the 4". (I actually got the idea from those reviews on Revain.) The little space around the canal was very helpful. I had to drill 8 inches of solid concrete. I asked several plumbers and several local "repairmen" for quotes, no one would quote it! They said it would be a huge project and very complex. Well, this basic beat got the job done in less than ten minutes! Literally 9 minutes. I was surprised. A few things to point out, use a powerful drill. I rented a 1" hammer drill from Home Depot for $40, well worth it. She went through 8 inches of concrete like butter. Another thing, if you use a hole punch, you may need to order an adapter. I made the mistake of not ordering this until I received the crown and I had to wait a few more days for the adapter to be delivered (wasn't available at any of the local stores). bit, so I took the advice of some of these reviews and made a "holder" out of a wooden board (see photo). I haven't used that idea. Can't speak to the durability of this drill bit, but I've drilled through 8 inches of solid concrete and the drill bit still looks perfect.
