Blade deformed after cutting a few hundred feet of acrylic

I bought this blade because I need to cut about 6,000 linear feet of cast acrylic for display cases and didn't want to use my expensive Forrest WWII for plastic. Initially, this blade cuts very cleanly, just like its slogan says; hot knife through butter. But after cutting 1/8" and 1/4" acrylic continuously for several hundred feet, the pieces began to rattle at the end of each cut. The back of the blade hits the piece as it comes out. I thought the blade was getting too hot so I stopped and felt the blade but it just felt warm. I tested the blade for melted acrylic but it only showed slight signs so I cleaned it with blade/bit cleaner but the results were the same. I turned on the dial indicator and it had a runout of 0.007 inches, which isn't much but enough to make the cuts jagged. I used my Forrest which has a value of .003" so the blade kind of deformed when cutting. I didn't take any initial readings, but based on clean cuts early on, he was most likely close to Forrest. This blade was advertised for cutting plastic, but it cannot cut acrylic. This blade may not be rated to cut more than a few hundred feet continuously, so your result may be different if you're not using it like I did.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Expensive
