Bought to read a Sony Memory Stick that was lying around thinking it might contain important photos. As soon as I got this adapter, I inserted the memory card and no drives showed up in Windows Explorer. As far as I understand, the drivers were not installed either. So I plug it into another USB port with the same result. I went back to this Revain page to see if others had the same issue and someone mentioned that it doesn't support USB 3.0, so I thought "Oh, maybe they mean it's out with USB 3.0 ports." not working for the time being.” Laptop knowing it has a USB 2.0 port and still nothing. Oddly enough, I unplugged the mini-USB cable (yes, remember the one from 10 years ago?) from the adapter and, with some effort, plugged it back in. This time a removable disk appeared, but it was empty. I put the SD card in the adapter's SD slot and lo and behold, it read my SD card fine, but my Sony MS still didn't show up. I put the adapter back into my laptop and now the SD drive is gone from Windows Explorer. Turns out you'll have to keep fiddling with it to make it *just* work as an SD reader. No thank you? Anyway, I already have an SD reader on my desktop fan controller and wanted to use it to read my Sony MS. Guess what? I went into Device Manager on my desktop with the adapter plugged in to see if I could force install or update the driver. I saw "Generic USB MS Reader USB Device" and then realized that my Kingwin FPX-003 fan controller might have MS support and I just didn't even think about it. I shine my flashlight into the SD slot and there I see the MS connector on the back of the SD connector, just on the other side. I connect MS and what do I find? Old photos of me and my family? nope It was a memory card for a Sony CLIÉ PDA. I have an mp3 sample that takes up 1 of 8MB of space and files that I can't open as only Palm OS software is required. Pros: - No cons: - MS slot doesn't work at all - SD slot only works if you keep fiddling with it (i.e. not worth wasting time) - Uses a mini USB connector as the only connection in 2019; Indeed? I totally understand Micro USB as it is the most common connector and USB C is generally not worth it, but MINI USB? - The included mini USB cable is only 12.5cm long which I think makes it unusable for many people. It will come back as soon as possible.
