Review on πŸ”΅ Bosch Cabinet Style Router Table RA1171: A Powerful Blue Innovation for Precision Woodworking by Sean Copeland

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Quite a learning experience.

What happened to all the positive reviews? when to start The mounting plate was so rough and uneven (NOT flat as others have noted) that it literally acted as a brake, preventing the workpiece from sliding across the surface. Repaired it by leveling it, sanding it smooth, cleaning/polishing it with fine steel wool and wax paste, and buffing it clean with a white rag. (This left no black marks on the work piece.) After all this work, the wood glides nicely across the surface. But then it's time to realign the plate. The countersunk and plate screws, when properly adjusted, SHOULD hold the plate tight and level, but they are not. They loosen up on EVERY PASS and throw everything off balance. Finally, the fence: it won't stay level no matter how well you install and tighten it. I tried connecting the boards but each time the slightest pressure threw the fence out of alignment. Trouble solved the problem in eight different ways before throwing in the towel. This was my first router table. The only positive thing I can say is that I learned A LOT about what features are needed in a good router table. Unfortunately, they are not included in this table.
