***UPDATE*** July 23, 2019 January 14, 2017 I bought this. The block has been working flawlessly for a number of years. The camera that was above my garage and outside on my porch is still working after the winter of 2017 and 2018 here in Ohio. One thing to keep in mind while using the app. When you watch a live feed from an app on your phone, the system will NOT automatically record live movement. I noticed that. So when you're at home watching something on the app, hit the record button. The system was great. However, the device hasn't gotten past the System Initialization screen for about a week. After about 10 minutes, the system beeps and then restarts in a continuous loop. Tried to disconnect or even swap HDD. Do not go. Pulled the BIOS battery hoping the default settings might do something. I will contact them directly via email and see if this issue can be resolved. Regardless of the price and over 2 years with no problems with it, it still deserves a 5 star rating. Work. Before purchasing this or any other IP camera, my main concern was how it would perform in the cold winter. So I installed one right outside the front door. The packaging says 14 degrees is the lowest temperature it can operate at, but recently we've seen temperatures below 0 degrees when I'm out and about with the camera still running. Now I can use the extra for my garage. The camera quality is good for the price. This is a really good setup for beginners. Night time could be better. My only complaint is the short distance you can see in night mode. The application to which you connect it on your smartphone is very practical. You can view live feeds from cameras and view playback. You can also take pictures and record them through the app if needed. A 1TB hard drive with a dashcam is sufficient for most people. Because it only records what you tell it. I have a DVR to record when motion is detected. Thus, it takes up very little storage space. As far as I know, you can use other IP cameras to upgrade to better cameras later.
