UPDATE: Disappointed

Oops I have to change my review from Happy to Disappointed. Structural weakness found. Each leg has a pair of spacers designed to prevent the leg from sliding freely when adjusted. They slip out and stretch the foot. The repair isn't difficult, but it's tedious in the field and annoying to have to do repeatedly. FIRST REVIEW I'm glad I bought this tripod which was recommended to me in my photography course. Haven't taken it outside yet, but installed it and tested it with the camera connected. Exactly what I expected and expect many good years from it. Some reviews contradict my out of the box experience. The expected ball head is included. It's as durable as a backpack style tripod can get. From the packaging and case to the carving on the footlock, everything creates a sense of cleanliness. Settings are easy, including switching from landscape to portrait. Should work equally well for left-handers and right-handers. The design is well thought out. For example, the legs can be freely folded at any angle you want, but they also have locks to adjust them at the same angle. Even fully extended it works consistently with my Nikon D5100. Will use a retractable pillar hook to add weight if needed. The case that comes with it looks good and sturdy. My only regret is that I didn't buy it for a long time.
