I was glad I found this stuff. I've used regular fluorite before, but I had to add crushed coral and squid bones, which completely ruined the look. I have this in my snail tank now which will be adding shrimp soon. I also sprinkled a thin layer on the bottom of my daphnia cultures to provide some calcium. This is great substrate! However, it is very dusty! At first I tried rinsing it, but it was clear that it would be difficult for me to get to the point where the water doesn't become cloudy. I ended up just adding it and then running the filter-threaded filter to pick up all the cloudy dust. Everything has settled well and although there are still very small particles, they appear to have settled on the bottom layer. My water is very clear now and the aquarium looks very clear with clear water and dark bottom!
