Great freshwater substrate choice!

Based on my experience this aquarium substrate is perfect for my freshwater tank setup .It provides excellent WATER quality and a beautiful natural look for my aquarium. The Gray Coast Calcite Substrate is easy to clean and maintain, and it encourages the growth of beneficial bacteria. The only con is that it can be a bit dusty upon initial setup, but this is easily remedied with a thorough rinsing. Overall, I highly recommend this substrate for any freshwater aquarium hobbyist..

Pros
  • Provides essential minerals and trace elements for aquatic plants and helps stabilize pH levels.
Cons
  • Dissolves slowly over time, potentially clouding the water if not properly rinsed before use.

I was glad I found this stuff

I was glad I found this stuff. I've used regular fluorite before, but I had to add crushed coral and squid bones, which completely ruined the look. I have this in my snail tank now which will be adding shrimp soon. I also sprinkled a thin layer on the bottom of my daphnia cultures to provide some calcium. This is great substrate! However, it is very dusty! At first I tried rinsing it, but it was clear that it would be difficult for me to get to the point where the water doesn't become cloudy. I

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
