Review on WELLAX Ultralight Air Sleeping Pad: The Ultimate Inflatable Mattress For Backpacking, Traveling & Camping! by John Wells

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Meet or exceeded my expectations

Weight/ size/ quality are all as expected. I am impressed with how comfortable this feels compared to my foam-core self-inflating pad. I'm 6' 280#, broad- shouldered, with a gut (not quite a dunlop) and when I tested it for side sleeping comfort with out a sleeping bag and on a hard floor, I did feel comfortable, like I could lay like that to sleep all night and my hip bone wasn't touching the floor. That alone makes me happy. I was also impressive by the sheer size, I'd read the dimensions and was looking for one that was on the wider side of life (like myself) and it does seem massive compared with other more "standard" sized sleeping pads I've used. I had plenty of head room and leg room whether sleeping on my back, on my side, or on my stomach with one leg bent and one arm above my head, lol. I never once felt like I might roll off our have to have one arm "hanging off" on the floor of my tent. I bought this to both use in a hammock and on a tent floor. I have not had a chance, unfortunately, to test in my hammock yet, but it does seem like it would do well. Inflated easily. Package said 4-6 breaths, took me about 8-9. They were deep breaths, but I wasn't hyperventilating by any means. The one-way inflating valve made it very easy to inflate - just blow to open the valve, no biting or anything. Deflating was simple and quick. I didn't weigh out to confirm weight, but definitely feels like less than a pound. Rolls up into it's own stuff sack, smaller than the size of a 16 oz coffee tumbler.I'd recommend it.

Pros
  • Built-in pillow offers added support and comfort
Cons
  • The valve may break easily
