Turn that scrap wood into useful pens and plugs. This dowel plate is a great tool. It works great and is made with precision and attention to detail. I made some 3/8 red oak dowel pins and checked how they would fit in the 3/8 hole drilled with a forstner bit. The fit is perfect, sloppy. With practice and desire, the diameter of the dowel can be adjusted so that the end looks more like a dowel that needs to be cut from your project and then sanded flush. The fit is perfect for the hardwood boxes I build. The holes in the dowel plate are tapered, making it easy to remove the newly created dowel. The outer edges of the tool are beveled and beautifully finished, unlike similar tools with rough outer edges. Dowel plate is no more expensive than other well-made American tools.
