🔩 English Steel Dowel Plate for DFM Applications Review

Overall very happy with this dowel plate. It easily cuts through the sides of a variety of holes allows you to start with a larger stock and get to the right size dowel with less effort.I installed it on a piece of hardwood and kept it hanging by my bench, ready to hammer through the dog hole.I was thinking of a Leigh- Nielsen dowel plate, but I'm glad I got this one instead as it's thicker, has a lot more hole sizes, and is only $10 more.

Only 4 stars because I haven't fully used it yet, just did some test dowels to check functionality and it worked as advertised. Turn that scrap wood into useful pens and plugs. This dowel plate is a great tool. It works great and is made with precision and attention to detail. I made some 3/8 red oak dowel pins and checked how they would fit in the 3/8 hole drilled with a forstner bit. The fit is perfect, sloppy. This is a good dowel board but it requires a few different things to work properly: 1. Material preparation is key. If you want larger plate sizes, you'll want your blank to be a much narrower size. On the other hand, if you want a medium or smaller dowel in a panel, you can just cut out a square blank to fit large holes and shrink it about 6 times, which works great.2. Stable base/platform.
