Very good circular knitting needles. Birch is a little smoother than bamboo needles, but not as smooth as plastic needles (compared to other smaller needles I have). The connection is smooth and strong. The needle itself can be a bit longer. The synthetic "thread" is strong and will not stretch under the heavy weight of the very bulky yarn. The length is great for an afghan. I used them to knit a sofa from thick luxurious yarn with loops and strands. Much easier than the metal flagpoles I used for the first afghan.
