I had ankle surgery and by the end of the day my ankle was very swollen. In addition, the operation makes my gait unsteady, which means that I do not feel 100% confident in my movements. These socks give me confidence when walking. Another problem is that my calves swell on top of my socks. These compression stockings help control calf swelling. I've had mine for over a year now and they are still in good condition. Getting dressed isn't a problem if you do it right. Finally I think they make me look older and I'm 62 so I mix colors for each leg now it's a fad :)
