I've been a technician for over 20 years and I don't normally write product reviews but I wanted to give a quick review on this product. I read in other reviews that the blade can break. But after using the product on a heavily insulated directly buried signal cable, I saw how if one of your workers cut through the insulation, Midstream accidentally turned the blade the other way, which could break it. But if you take your time and trim the cord neatly and take your time, that's a nice thing. I used the competitor's version and depending on the gauge of the cable, the cable tends to slip towards the center intersection making it difficult to use. But this item has a flatter surface and an almost thin layer of teflon-coated plastic to allow the wire sheath to slide through. So overall, this tool pays for itself the first time you use it, especially when working with direct penetration cables. Hope this helps any other techie out there, good luck.
