I have never used bamboo needles and had to replace the steel needles and increase the size. I made my decision because of the low price and good reviews. These DPNs are smooth but have a grip so your stitches don't fly off, but they're not too grippy or heavy on your hands. I'm using the Marly Bird sock line on YouTube to make my first pair of patchwork wool socks. I highly recommend these needles; Just make sure you pay close attention to the length of the needle for your needs. They're a little shorter than I'm used to, but they're perfect.
