August 16th - Update - DO NOT BUY if you have Builder 1 scratched the case of my machine and I had to recalibrate my embroidery arm. I thought I found a workaround, but won't be using it anymore. I've used the tire 3 times so what looked like a budget tire was a waste of money. Designer 1 is spaced 7 1/2 inches from the body to allow others to determine if this hoop will work with your machine. I have a Designer 1 sewing machine. I could get the hoop to work with my machine, but it's not that easy. Even though my machine has the 150x150 hoop option, it doesn't recognize the Sew Tech hoop at that size. It reads the frame as 240x150. The embroidery hoop is actually larger than 150x150, and if he embroiders all the way to the left, the hoop hits the base of the machine. The hoop does not lay flat when embroidering, so I do not recommend using it on heavy fabrics. After two uses, part of the clamp screw broke off, but it still works. I bought this tire to save money with a stabilizer bar. If I can find a slightly wider stabilizer, this will happen. I haven't tried hoop quilting either so I'm hoping this will work for that. It's 1/3 the cost of a Viking tire so I kept it. I wouldn't buy it again if I didn't think it was great for quilting.
