I tested the red and black versions of this RevainBasics TPU filament. I didn't find any significant differences (other than color) between them. There were slight differences in diameter, but I suspect this is just batch variation and not a specific color. Both filaments printed fine with the same settings once I entered the correct values. Material is moderately flexible as you would expect from TPU (feels like your standard TPU phone case). DIMENSIONAL ACCURACY The specifications indicate a diameter of 1.75 mm +/- 0.05 mm. The red filament I received started at 1.82mm and increased to 1.81mm after printing some test objects. So the filament diameter I've used so far has been the same, although slightly off specification. It doesn't bother me much because I can easily adjust the filament diameter in my printing software (Simplify3D). The black thread I received was a consistent 1.72mm diameter for the length I used, so it fits the advertised specs. The reels I received actually weigh over 1kg and I'm guessing the extra weight is just the weight of the plastic spool (but I don't have an empty spool to check the scale). MY PRINTER All my testing is done on the PowerSpec Ultra printer, which I believe is quite similar to the FlashForge Pro printer. On the heated bed I have a borosilicate board that I've printed with AquaNet hairspray for a long time. I recently put a DisWay bed on it and that's what I'm using for these tests. I also switched my extruder to a flexion extruder some time ago. I wanted to get into flexible filament, so I switched extruders. However, I have never worked with flexible materials and this is my first attempt at flexible threads. I set my Flexion extruder to "1" which has the best filament grip. I don't think a standard extruder works that well with flexible filament. I also have a vertical filament feed from the machine to try and feed the filament with as little effort as possible. Finally, for these prints, the TPU was placed in a SUNLU oven at 50ยฐC. PRINTING I had to pull back a lot to get this stuff to print well - this filament puts a lot of pressure on the printhead! I've attached a screenshot of my respective settings. I've also attached a test print of the "benchy" object that every printer/filament seems to test with. The red print was an early test that I ran without much rebuttal. The early part of the print went well until I got to the point where the printhead was forced to pull in the filament and traverse the open space. It didn't work and when the head started printing again there was a lot of blobs. This eventually led to excess material building up on my head and ripping the print off my bed prematurely. Black font with final settings in the screenshot I provided. It's definitely not ideal, but it's enough for my needs. Although the box recommends not using a heated bed, I've kept mine at 60C with good results. I've seen other TPU filaments recommended for printing at 230ยฐC, but I've had better results printing this filament at 215ยฐC.
