Revainrating 4 out of 5

The first impression was not very good. Running Strong Update

I want to give it 5 stars like everyone else. (If these are even real reviews.) The charger was packaged well and the quality of the cable looks good. They did a good job putting it in a 6-20 connector. The box itself looks decent, though. The connections on the box itself were not tight when it arrived. I had to tighten both sides of the box so I was a little worried about the "IP-65" rating. I'm considering returning the grout or using sealant as I plan on leaving it installed outside. The instruction manual caused some confusion. It says it has a 10 amp and 16 amp push button setting, which is not true. My box didn't have a button and the image in this ad doesn't show the button. I checked the neighbors chargers and they are very similar except for the name. Booklet and box in the same style. His brochure said the same thing about the 10/16 setting without the button. So I'm assuming they were all made from the same factory, except this one was about $40 cheaper, which I can't complain about. Charging is very easy. Just plug the socket into your car. I have a 2020 Bolt and can confirm it was charging at around 3.7kW, but my car rounded up to 4kW. My car uses twice as much but it was more than enough for me to cover my daily commute in 3-4 hours. I was able to get away with the included 120V charger, but I still wanted a faster charger in case I needed to travel for business. I live in the middle of 2 major freeway junctions so I have access to 75kW DC chargers when needed, which helped me choose this cheaper and slower alternative. Update: 12/29/2020 The charger works perfectly. I plugged it in 24/7 and it survived heavy rain. I set my box up so it didn't touch the ground, but it got a little wet when I had to take it off to get the extra length. I added a star; The plastic box and charging head still feel a little cheap though, but they've proven to withstand light rain with the bottom and heavy rain when installed. I don't know if I fully trust it in normal or heavy rain on the ground, even after tightening the ends of the cable. Looks like it's been updated too, so hopefully this version has a better build quality. It's also a little cheaper than what I paid for mine. If the quality is the same or better then I would recommend it if it suits your needs. It's no frills, but it's simple plug and play. Most cars allow you to set charging times through the vehicle itself or its app, so I didn't see the need for a programmable charger.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Obsolete model
