Excellent product. After reading the negative reviews I decided to give the drill a try and am very glad I did. I had 4 3/4" holes through a 3/8" plate. I used a hole punch and then pre-drilled it with a 1/4" bit to create a small funnel for the drill bit to follow. The drill bit worked perfectly in my drill press at medium speed. I also used lots of oil to clean the cutting tread and not letting the bit get hot I'm not sure how this bit will work on a hand drill but I think low speed and the use of oil are a must when drilling thicker material.
