You must use HDPE plastic bottles, otherwise they will melt or deform in this heating pad. Look for the HDPE symbol in the triangle on the bottom. It means "high density polyethylene" and not "HOPE" as many people think. HDPE plastic can withstand temperatures up to 220 degrees. HDPE bottles are widely available and not difficult to find. However, PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) plastics are also commonly sold as massage oil/lotion bottles, but they cannot withstand the heat of HDPE. Look for an 8 ounce cylindrical HDPE bottle with a pump. This is the standard size for massage oil warmers and massage pads. This is a good massage oil warmer but they really need to inform the customer which bottles to use. I had to learn by trial and error.
