Review on πŸ“± Arduino-Compatible 38kHz IR Receiver Module for Remote Controlled Electronic Circuits by Heather Oliver

I saved $200 fixing a Bose music machine

A friend had a Bose music machine he bought years ago and it had no buttons to control it, ONLY a remote. The receiver module no longer works. I could tell the remote worked, I saw the IR light flickering through my phone's camera and he also said he took it to a Bose store and the remote worked with their products. Removed the old, connected the new and it works like new. Bose charged $200 for the repair. I shortened the legs on the old module to make it easier to remove the solder from the holes and of course I took a quick picture with my phone before I start reminding you of the orientation of the components when installing. I also touched the legs of the component with the old one when it was on and the remote worked fine so I knew it would work once installed.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Very expensive
