These were a pleasant surprise.I have an LS J2030H sub compact tractor that I put a 54" snow blower on this winter. My property is sloping and I found out quickly that even blowing the snow out of the tractors path, on the slopes the tractor did not have enough traction in 4wd to get up from the pole barn to the road. I had a set of V style chains for my old 4 wheels rear tires that sort of kind of fit on the front tires of my tractor. They worked like a charm, but they were sloppy and the inevitable happened. One got thrown from the tire and I didn't notice it. It ended up in my blower. Several hours later, the tractor was up and running again minus a set of chains.Found these on ebay and the price certainly was right. I was skeptical however that these would bite and dig the same as the V style chains. But the chains were hard as hell on my paved driveway, so while they were on I avoided doing the driveway properly. I cleaned it out enough, but left quite a lot of snow to keep the chains from gouging. I didn't know how these would work in the lawn, but I figured they would be a heck of a lot better for my driveway. They didn't have to be awesome in the lawn, they just needed to give me enough extra grip to move up the slope, even if it was not pretty. To my surprise, these things were much MUCH better than I expected them to be in the lawn. The preformed admirably on the tractor and in particularly tough places, turns out they will DIG too. No more problems with the driveway either. These were put on the front tires obviously as they don't make a set large enough for the rear. And they were put on a tractor much heavier than what they were intended for and were subjected to stress that no lawn tractor could hope to replicate. That said, these are showing signs of wear after one season. Wear that you might expect to see after several seasons on a lawn tractor. But for the price, I don't see how you can go wrong. They really made a night and day improvement on my sub compact. I am considering trying to replace straps as needed by cutting new ones out of an old tire. Depending on how much of a pain that is, I may just suck it up and buy a new set every 2 or 3 seasons.I can tell you from experience on difficult terrain, that these things work and they work well. They are a good price, they are good for your paved driveway and they are suitable for a sub compact even if the life span is probably cut down to 2-3 seasons. This is just a good deal.
