My review is for a 3 inch security key. My guess is that due to the nature of the product, the difficulty in getting an accurate cut increases with size (e.g. Β½ inch is easiest and 4 inch is most difficult). I bought this because the toilet flange had broken to the point where it couldn't be secured with metal rings or other simple fasteners. When I tried to remove a toilet flange from a 3" drain pipe with a hammer and chisel, I couldn't properly remove the flange from the pipe. I found that there wasn't enough 3" tubing to glue the new connector. From the toilet he went: Flange (connector) > Elbow 90Β° (connector) > Elbow 45Β° (connector) > Yi (connector). So Without cutting out the star and rejoining some pipes and joints (seen more bottom, more headaches, etc.) I considered my options I tried melting a 90Β° bend at one of the joints with a heat gun It worked, but it deformed/expanded the 3" pipe to the point where I couldn't make a solid connection. That's when I found this, and it answered the big question: How do I get a new connection inexpensively to cement a new pipe/connector?Well I have successfully drilled a pipe that was cemented in a 45Β° arc, however it is very difficult to keep it perfectly straight the whole way and if you aren't straight, you get small protrusions in the connector at the end that can affect a solid connection. A wish for this product would be a more in-depth guide. The guide essentially consists of two welded-on washers. If it were deeper it would be much less prone to wobble. I wasn't sure I would have a reliable connection with the cutting combs so I want to contact both major hardware stores to see what I can do to put my mind at ease. Fernco's rubber couplings seemed like the right choice, but they were only pipe to pipe connections in a shop and I needed connector to connector. It turns out Fernco makes them, but you can't always buy them locally. I bought one online, grouted the PVC joints and tightened the Fernco. I am now confident that if the tube welding fails, Fernco will support it. GOOD: β’ It can save a headache for those who don't want to tear up the floor/walls/ceiling to replace the PVC pipe. PVC is cheap, but it can be expensive to get hold of. β’ The build quality is solid and the price reasonable. Fernco's 3" x 3" Plastic Sleeve Flexible PVC Sleeve to Plastic Sleeve - Model #1060-3 and you will receive a reliable PVC plug to connect the plug to. Also use a corded drill with some weight.
