arrived mangled (?); returned

The jar came with the lid ripped off inside the jar so we had to fit it ourselves which isn't that difficult as it should have been an easy job just by inserting plastic sticks into the introduces containers. holes in the lid and make sure the metal rod is threaded correctly in the middle. However, the plastic rods weren't long enough so that the lid was barely connected and would have fallen off one of the rods if it slipped sideways. The lid did not lay flat against the opening when on and buckled to one side, causing the jar to fail to close properly without depressing and opening unevenly when attempting to pedal open again, causing the lid to slam shut. from the aforementioned link rods. The plastic fins along the opening (to hold the bin bags) protruded over the edge and may have contributed to the lid not closing properly without assistance. This container is very similar to my previous container so I had high hopes that it would be sufficient. It's definitely cheaper quality, thin plastic, and not very aesthetic, but considering the price, it's a fair deal if it were functional (trash cans are pretty expensive, oops). However, I do not in good faith recommend it if it has such issues with the lid and failing to close properly. I may have come across a defective tin so take my review with a grain of salt but for my part I sent the basket back and decided to buy another.
