To clarify, this is the best bin I've ever bought. The step can be easily lowered, the lid closes quickly and quietly. It lasts a lot, so fewer trips to the dumpster, hooray! There is a lifting edge so your garbage bag is more secure and won't fall off the edge if you put something too heavy in it. I hate it when it happens and now it's in the past. It's such a weird time in my life to be so happy about a trash can but here it is.

The tin is very sturdy and I like the stylish design. However, the lid pops open or twists sideways every time you step on the pedal to open it, as the pins on the side of the bin are too short to stay in the holes in the lid. I fixed mine by inserting a small screw into the end of one of the studs. This expanded the bolt so that it could no longer pop out. Update: The lid has a faulty design. The lid literally falls off a hinge with every use. Weary! I resorted to adding wire on each side with glue to hold the lid in place. Everything is OK. I wouldn't call it new and improved. New and different problems. This is a regular trash can, but there are some design issues. I never give reviews. In fact, I can't remember when I left the last one. I like to do this when I'm overly interested in the item and really want others to know what they're getting before they buy. Life hated the product so much. The lid is terrible. When the locking mechanism works, the middle link is off. As an engineer I can say that this product is a design flaw. The most annoying part is the step. When you push it down, the step's design directs most of your power horizontally instead of vertically. Thus, it becomes more of a "rejection” than a "sink.” Result: The damn container moves about 2 inches each time the step is used. makes angry. The jar came with the lid ripped off inside the jar so we had to fit it ourselves which isn't that difficult as it should have been an easy job just by inserting plastic sticks into the introduces containers. holes in the lid and make sure the metal rod is threaded correctly in the middle.
