Review on 🌧️ Oatey 14136 Rain Collar 1.5-3 Inch No-Calk Roof Flashing in Black by Bryce Marshall

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works with 2 " and 2.5 " PVC vent pipe without modification.

Installed these raincoats on five ventilation pipes. The outside temperature was 48 degrees. Two tubes were 2.5 inch OD (measured 2-3/8) and three were 2 inch OD (measured 1-7/8). It was easy with 2" vent pipes. It was a bit harder with 2.5" pipes, but if you follow the tips below you will be successful too. Installation: 1. Take a bucket of very hot water and throw raincoats into it, soak them a little to soften them before installation.2. Find an empty spray bottle and fill it with 0.5 ounces of dish soap and 8 ounces of water. Don't shake it; just swirl it to mix the water and soap.3. Climb onto the roof with the bucket (the collars are still wet inside) and the spray bottle. It helps if someone hands you a bucket and bottle when you're on the roof.4. Spray a liberal amount of soapy water on all sides of the vent tube. For 2.5" tubing, be sure to apply some liquid around the top of the vent tube opening. 5. The clamps slide straight down and down the 2" pipe. Don't go too deep as you need a nice smooth surface for the water to run off. 2.5 inch pipes are a bit trickier. Gently pull the cuff opening over the top of the airway tube, using enough force to tighten it. Do not pull too hard, otherwise you will deform the shape of the collar below. , and then it will not fit tightly to the waterproofing. If you make this mistake like I did, install it as best you can. Then head back to the house and fill your bucket with really hot water. Get your really hot water on the roof and pour about half of it down your collar. Then gently slide it back into shape. If it still doesn't fit properly after the first try, pull it up about an inch, then use the remaining hot water to warm the collar and crack again. The second round will be easier. , bottle and ladder. Grab your favorite drink, get back outside and admire your work - knowing you just saved at least $150!
