Works as it should.

Worked great on my breather pipe. Definitely for use as a secondary defense. When I first looked at it, I thought the center hole was too small. But I made sure the piece was warm and installed it on a warm day so it would stretch slightly during installation. It was still very tight, but that's probably necessary for waterproofing.

THIS IS NOT FOR A 4 " PIPE!

I bought this product thinking it would fit a 4" roof vent but the hole in the center is more for pipes like 1 Made 1/2". Rubber is 4". In short it's not a bad product, I think it's just misnamed and should indicate the diameter of the pipe it's used for like other products, not the overall diameter.

  • Constant Test Results
Cons
  • Requires Socket

Fixed two roof leaks

I used two strips to repair two separate leaks around two vent pipes on my roof. This plank is very easy to fit around the air duct and fits perfectly. I used sealant on the roof and caulk around the vent pipes before installing the caulk to ensure the caulk stays in place - it also serves as a second layer of protection. I hope this repair lasts a few years before something else forces us to replace the entire roof.

  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons

Cheap and easy repair!

I have three roof vents in my house and all three are leaking through the rubber boot. The house is 13 years old and I didn't want to completely remove the skin just to replace the rubber boots as they were still in good condition. It's easy to install. Just mount it on the pipe and slide it down the pipe until it covers the old rubber boot on your house. This is a cheap and easy job that any homeowner can do as long as your home's floor isn't too steep.

The correct part number is the correct part.

Ordered a 3 inch PVC vent fitting. Not sure how it should fit. Contacted Revain and said it was the wrong item. A new one was sent but it was the same part. asked if it was the right number. Send a picture of the flange and they replied that it is. I don't know how to get a 1.625" hole to pull on a 3" PVC pipe with a 3.5" OD. It would be nice if the diameter of the hole was indicated for the firmware. It would help avoid this problem. Don't risk putting the correct part number on the roof if…

Smaller than I expected

It is smaller than I expected. The base diameter is 4.0 inches, the top hole diameter is 1 3/8 inches, and the height is about 1.2 inches. The bottom has an inner molded ring about 2.5 inches in diameter that extends almost to the bottom. All this means is that the plastic sheath you cover needs to be small and relatively flat, or at least the damage is limited to the area immediately around the pipe. When using it on a 1.5" nominal PVC pipe, the actual outside diameter of the pipe is 1.9", so…

Installation not quite as stated by Oatey

I have an Oatey copper roof with a factory installed rubber grommet. The factory seal is pressed into a groove around the entire perimeter of the apron. About 20 years have passed and in some places parts of this seal are missing. You'd think since copper parts for roofs are made to last over 50 years, Oatey would have a design that would allow for gasket replacement, as no rubber ever lasts that long. (My roof doesn't leak thanks to a rubber ice/water barrier under the shingles mounted on…

Works with 2 " and 2.5 " PVC vent pipe without modification.

Installed these raincoats on five ventilation pipes. The outside temperature was 48 degrees. Two tubes were 2.5 inch OD (measured 2-3/8) and three were 2 inch OD (measured 1-7/8). It was easy with 2" vent pipes. It was a bit harder with 2.5" pipes, but if you follow the tips below you will be successful too. Installation: 1. Take a bucket of very hot water and throw raincoats into it, soak them a little to soften them before installation.2. Find an empty spray bottle and fill it with 0.5 ounces

Pros
  • great product
Cons
  • I really have no complaints about it, everything is fine
