Unbeatable price

Bought 2 of these to try 2.5Gbps for the first time. They work great; I was able to achieve great file transfer speeds of up to 296MB/s. 2.5GBE limit - 312.5MB/s; Some overhead is expected, so I'm basically maximizing speed here. I'm perfectly happy with it. I'm actually considering moving to 5Gbe to get rid of that bottleneck haha. They get a little warm, but nothing like "OMG, SO HOT!" what other reviewers say. A few caveats though: 1) So I'm not using a multi-gig switcher yet. My tests were direct connections between Windows PCs. When I tried to transfer large amounts of data between two PCs with two of these USB adapters, the connection broke relatively early and I had to unplug and replug the adapters. I could never complete the transfer of a large file. I thought I'd end up returning them, but with a direct connection between one of these adapters and a 2.5GB PCIE card, everything worked great. I'm not sure what the problem is, but since it works with a PCIE card, I'm pretty sure everything will be fine and I'll end up with a multi-gigabit switch. 2) On Windows, you must enable Jumbo Frame in the adapter configuration, otherwise you will not get the maximum speed. I think without it I could get normal gigabit speeds (can't remember exactly. I tested it a few days ago and won't change it now). Under Network Connections, right-click your adapter, select Properties -> Advanced -> Jumbo Frame. I set the MTU to 9 KB. I don't know what value to choose, but this worked for me. 3) I use them with USB-C to USB-A adapters. This can be an issue with the adapters I use, but if you connect the USB-C end incorrectly, the speed will be capped at around a measly 40MB/s. So if you make a mistake the first time, just flip it. Or maybe it's just a problem with the adapters I have. None of these little warnings are worth giving me a star. Overall I don't think it can be beat at this price (at least as of the time of writing this article).
