It has the perfect balance of softness, suppleness and lustrous fibers firmly packed in a wooden handle. It does not absorb oil and effectively transfers it from the sponge to the wooden cutting board. It glides very easily over the board and even spreads the oil on the sponge. Actually, calling it a sponge is not very accurate. Although it has a spongy density, it does not absorb oil. Cleaning is done very easily and quickly. Just like you hand wash your dishwashing brush, do the same with this tool and you're done. Unlike a sponge, you don't tirelessly squeeze all the soap out of the fibers. Definitely recommend 10/10!
